Senses of Cinema Issue 50

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

I have three interviews and a brief essay in the new issue of Senses of cinema:

My favorite brief exchange was edited out of the Denis interview:

Hughes: One of my favorite moments in any of your films is Gregoire Colin’s dance scene in U.S. Go Home, so it was great fun to see him dancing again. As soon as that scene began, I thought, “Now this is a Claire Denis film.”

Denis: {laughs}

Hughes: I also had the biggest smile on my face when “Nightshift” kicked in.

Denis: {laughs} Me too! Such a great song.

Hughes: I imagine you having a huge record collection.

Denis: Yes! {laughs} Yes, yes.
