With the most recent revision of Long Pauses, I added a design page to showcase some of the work I've done as a web developer and to promote my growing freelance business. I try to keep that area of my life separate from the blog proper, but I have to brag for a second. I've just discovered that my redesign of The University of Tennessee site -- a project that totally consumed my life in the winter of 2007 -- has been nominated for three awards (Best Overall Web Site, Best Visual Design, and Best Information Architecture) in the first annual eduStyle People's Choice Awards. I'm kind of pulling for the teams at Virginia Tech, Notre Dame, and Louisville -- none of whom are handicapped by orange or by a delicate, serif wordmark, I should add -- but taking home a prize against this competition would be an accomplishment.
And since I'm on the subject, I also want to show off my latest design. Bradley Rule and his small group of associates are artists and craftsmen of a kind you don't meet very often today.
