Hard at Work

Sunday, November 20, 2005

So what does it mean that I take a greater sense of pride and satisfaction from my garage remodel than from the first two chapters of my dissertation?

Window (pic 1 and pic 2) — We discovered after buying our house that this window had, at some point, fallen apart. I'll admit that it still isn't completely operational, but it looks beautiful. Those black dots on the frame (see the first picture) were areas of dirt build-up that I had to scrape off with a razor blade.

Floor trim (pic 3) — That, my friend, is what a whole lotta sanding, three coats of joint compound, two coats of primer, and two coats of paint looks like.

Wall (pic 4 and pic 5) — Demo'ing the old, rotting pegboard left huge holes in the drywall. Again, lots of compound, sanding, priming, and painting. Yes, my garage really used to be a horrible shade of pinkish tan. I also replaced all of the light switches, outlets, and light fixtures.
