Miscellaneous Debris

Monday, December 29, 2003

Back from holiday travels and buried under writing assignments, with two major deadlines looming in the next two weeks.

  • My initial impressions of Jeffrey Alexander's The Meanings of Social Life: A Cultural Sociology
  • JonathaBrooke.com — in preparation for the release of Back in the Circus on February 24, Jonatha and the fine folks at Bad Dog Records have given the site a facelift. I'm digging the first single, "Better After All"
  • Kushner on O'Neill — a fantastic 4,000-word overview of Eugene O'Neill's life and work, and, I imagine, a preview of things to come if Kushner's rumored biopic screenplay is ever filmed. I copied and pasted this one for my files in case the link dies. [via GreenCine Daily]
  • PTA and LVT — An interesting conversation between Paul Thomas Anderson and Lars von Trier
  • Civilization III — the Christmas present that has ruined any chance I might have had of finishing my dissertation this year
  • Rapture Letters — "This message has been sent to you by a friend or a relative who has recently disappeared along with millions and millions of people around the world. The reason they chose to send you this letter is because they cared about you and would like you to know the truth about where they went." [via kottke.org]
