After a year with my service provider, I seem to have had my first technical glitch. Hopefully that means that they have moved Long Pauses over to their newer server, meaning that I'll soon be able to more thoroughly report traffic through this neck of the World Wide Web woods. How exciting. So if you stopped by yesterday and noticed some general oddness, problems should now be resolved.
Even more exciting, though, is that I learned yesterday afternoon that I passed my final comprehensive exam! It took a bit longer than planned, but I'm finally ABD (all but dissertation), which means that I now get to begin filling out candidacy forms, organizing my committee, and writing/defending my prospectus. Should be a busy fall.
And speaking of being busy . . . Blog updates might be few and far between over the next few days. I'm working on an exciting, but fairly intensive writing project right now. If all goes according to plan, it should eventually produce an article titled, "Seeking 'Holy Moments': Discovering Common Grace in Film," which will be published in Findings, the Wilberforce Forum's review of contemporary culture.
Finally, Dr. Julia Lesage, co-editor of Jumpcut: A Review of Contemporary Media, sent me an e-mail, notifying me of their Web presence. So far, only two issues are available online, but the quality is impressive. Here is an interesting article on Wong Kar-Wai by Robert M. Payne. Good stuff.
